Using Your Insurance
Paying for your child’s dental care shouldn’t have to be a frustrating process, and here at Smiles University, we strive to make it as easy as possible. We accept most insurance plans, and we’re even happy to file any necessary paperwork on your behalf so that you receive the maximum benefit. Confused about how your dental insurance works? Here are some helpful hints:
- Dental insurance typically covers 100% of preventive and diagnostic services, including routine check-ups, cleanings, and X-rays. Necessary treatments to preserve oral health, like fillings, are covered by 80% and more in-depth solutions like crowns are covered by 50%.
- Most insurance plans include a co-pay (an amount you will need to pay at the time of your dental visit or when you’ve received a bill) and a deductible (an annual amount that must be paid before your benefits kick in).
- If your dental office is in-network with a certain provider, that means they’ve negotiated contracts that allow them to provide better costs to their patients. If you have an out-of-network plan, more services may be available to you, but costs will typically be higher.
